very very funny - I'd have had Cleese grip Chapman by the ear rather than the hair, a funnier part of the body
He was acknowledged as the great general and warrior he was, he inherited a title, a true greatefulness from the people he saved but also from the nobles and the soldiers. He was my absolute favourite character, going out of his brother's shadow once and for all. I loved this scene.
He actually killed himself, sulla didn't kill him and his father (also the same name and sullas real enemy) died of old age. They could at least try to get history right if they are going to quote it. No better friend, no worse enemy Ave Felix!!
Maybe I should have used the wall at school to right on when they put me out of the room 100 times and saved paper. I will not this, I will not that, they were always on my arse like will knots.😊 LOL
Andy le meilleur des Spartacus ❤
When maximus shouted hold the line i feel im holding aswell
Legion V, Macedonica arrived with Antony and were still stationed in Alexandria (along with Legion XIII) until the Muslim invasion of the 7th century, when they disappear from history.
not gonna lie, even though he betrayed ragnar, i genuinely shed a tear watching this scene. i was so proud he got the vindication he wanted
Sexiest entry
This is life
I always wondered if Romulus and Remus were raised by a prostitute instead of an actual wolf. It's cool that she mentioned that.
I learned a lot about ancient Roman life from this series. Interesting.
Shame on the house of HBO for canceling Rome, shame...
But, you wanted more game of thrones
Good! Now DON’T do it Again!
Interesting information, but is this really the best thumbnail picture you can do??
I would love f switched aides too with appreciation like that
I love listening and watching Mary Beard👍❤️❗
What set the Romans apart from every other civilization? The blood of a mother wolf was in their veins.
Silver mining for Rome in Spain was for the birds. The tools used by the slaves attest to that. Crowbar: a public house for ravens.😅 Everybody keeps wondering and complaining about the design of the front of the Pantheon. That curious mismatch where the roof over the front porch meets the rest of the building, what if it was designed and built that way on purpose? A simple extra bit of embellishment. And all the Roman style architecture that Hadrian put up in his hometown? He loved his home, and he very much liked Rome. He just wanted a piece of Rome in his backyard.
Very seldom is there true honor among thieves. If Romulus began the population of his city with criminals, vagabonds, and outcasts, how in Hell did they manage to get along with each other? Maybe they felt a sense of community in recognizing their backgrounds were really not very much different from each other. But since we weren't there, and didn't observe their intimacy and attitudes, we will never really know for sure.
This was a lot of fun. People need to lighten up, geez!
I hope they will make a spin off of this arc
Gloire au Jarl Rollon ! Fondateur de la Normandie ! Diex aïe ! Fier d'être normand ! Glory to Jarl Rollo! Founder of Normandy! Diex Aïe! Proud to be Norman!
What is music in the end of this scene pls ??
Just checked, Google did a good job with Google translate. Wonder if they watched this skit. :-) I remember this skit more than my high school Latin class.
Oof, this scene is hard to watch. I'm thinking of the badly beaten vikings in their boats. Rollo is hard to hate. Without him and Ragnar, this show went south fast. A lot of us have families with internal differences, keeping us separate rather than stronger, united.
The look he gives her is absolutely smouldering
This here.. I feel for Rollo.. After eating shit, numerous heartbreaks, conflicting desires and ambitions.. Dude finally gets appreciated..
Rest on Andy
Egypt has sometimes been called the cradle of civilization even though there were other ancient civilizations that at one time or another could claim the same fame. But Rome is the only civilization that can legitimately lay claim to being the cradle of Christianity.
Eragabulus, the ultimate queer. He was so bad that his grandmother who put him on the throne organized the plot to get rid of him by traditional means, assassination.
The carving of the naked emperor Claudius grabbing a half naked woman by her hair reminds of a scene in one of Clint Eastwood's Dirty Harry movies: "when a naked man is chasing a woman down an alley with a butcher knife, you gotta figure he isn't out collecting for the Red Cross." The image of Caracalla seems to present the awful brute as a really rather handsome man but according to stories about him, I surmise that he probably wasn't very easy to get along with unless there was that special magic that induced a mutual fondness, which sometimes did happen in Ancient Rome. God! What a fun place to live!
You can't deny, the lady gives it to you straight!
Some Roman senator probably said "We could do with a new road here." So they built one. Then they decided they could do with a new road there. So they built it. Then they thought it would be nice to not get stuck in the mud in another place. So they built that one. Eventually, the Romans built more than 50,000 miles of paved roads throughout their empire, and that doesn't include more than another 30,000 miles of secondary roads. Rome was on the move.
Maybe the Pantheon's front porch was built that way on purpose, for simple ornamentation.
Hadrian liked Rome, but he loved Spain. His giant private property in Spain was his attempt to bring a little bit of Rome back home with him.
I paid for the full episode. What is this bowlderised American mess?
One of the most iconic and memorable scenes in the series. It still gives me goosebumps so many years later!👍🏾
One of the best fking scenes in this show. The adrenaline. You deserve this Rollo
This scene straight up felt like Rocky Balboa and I love it
i think caesar would have executed this group if he heard this
Sulla was the young man here. Marius was almost 70 during when Sulla had him killed.
Thank you for sharing. Very entertaining. The Gladiators were known as the "barley men" because they consumed barley, beans, ash, and fruit. Their handlers fed them this way because they did NOT fight well on eating meat (they were sluggish), The glucose/carbohydrates in the other foods gave them stamina and energy, similar to carloading before a marathon.
Perhaps the funniest comedy of all time...
Mnaah! Only IF you know a tiny bit of history(And ain't a Fanatic+ about "stuff"...)
I wonder who would win in a war? Tywin Lannister or Frank Underwood.
1:33 Does that guy look like Jax Teller from 800 AD? Or is that just me?
How’d those romans get past fitness
What killed the Roman Empire? Stupidity.
Triumph!
